Sample IELTS essay: Spoken communication or written communication?

Source: internet

Chủ đề bài luận như sau: “Spoken communication is more important than written communication. To what extent do you agree or disagree?”.

Các bạn có thể chọn đứng hẳn về một bên bằng cách viết “I totally agree with this statement” hoặc “I totally disagree with this statement”, hoặc có thể đứng ở giữa tức là một nữa đồng ý, một nữa không “I do not totally agree with the statement” hoặc “I partly agree with the statement”.

Dear friends, it is my great pleasure to once again be back on Blog. Today, I would like to share with you guys a sample essay that I have just written as an example for my students.

The essay question is “Spoken communication is more important that written communication. To what extent do you agree or disagree?”

This is an argument type of essay, so you have to choose a standpoint to express your idea whether you totally agree, totally disagree or partly agree with the statement.

In my example, I chose to stand in the middle point. I did not totally agree or disagree because each form of communication has its own advantages.

If you are interested, please take a look through my example. If you have any other ideas, please share them in the comment section. Thank you!

Example:

I personally do not totally agree with the statement that verbal communication plays a more crucial role than written communication in our daily life.

There is no doubt that spoken communication brings about practical advantages to communicators. First, this form of communication helps us to directly interact with one another. In some critical situations, verbal interactions can prove better effectiveness than written forms, for example in case of fires or flash floods, a phone call to the fire brigade or the police emergency force would help. Second, spoken communication can give communicators a sense of close relationship and a good opportunity to improve their communication skills. It has been proved that being able to communicate verbally with beloved partners may relieve our negative emotions and enhance our language capacity.

Nevertheless, written forms of communication also play an equally essential part in our everyday life. It is a fact that communicators can never be available 24/7 to verbally interact with one another. Therefore, such forms of communications as faxes, text messages, emails or encodings become efficient alternatives. These written forms of communication not only make our communication seamless but also enrich our forms of interaction. In addition, in such official contexts as business transactions or military intelligence, verbal communication would not be a wise protocol. Instead, written documents in such situations would be more legal and secured.

In conclusion, although verbal interaction enables us to communicate effectively, develop a sense of close relationship and improve our language skills, written forms of communication still possess its own advantages in several communication contexts. (Word count: 260)
